Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #81 ~ Ferris Buellers Day Off

Welcome Everyone to our 81st challenge where this week we are presenting a fan favorite movie of the 80's - Ferris Bueller's Day Off! This is in honor of the end of school approaching - we are so excited to do this movie for our Cinema Saturday this week!!!! If you haven't seen this movie - get ready for a rollercoaster ride into 80's nostalgia! We both have memories of watching Ferris when we were younger and it was so much fun to tell each other our favorite Ferris Bueller lines!!! LOL! We were just cracking up! And then we thought (lightbulb moment!) why not make that the challenge requirement!!! So this week YOU have a choice for the challenge requirement:

CHALLENGE REQUIREMENT:

You could either create a card with one of the following:

1. with a sentiment from one of the songs in the Ferris Bueller movie

OR

2. create a card with a sentiment from one of the actual lines from the Ferris Bueller movie (or you could create a sentiment inspired by something that you think that Ferris would say)

We hope you like this challenge requirement!!!! And if you haven't seen this movie recently - take a walk down memory lane and pop it in tonight!

Brooke Card ~ Inspired by the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Sorry Ladies I don't think I will have a card this week due to the fact that I have been down with a migraine and the flu for the last 5 days.. I will try to put in all my efforts into the next COOL challenge..
This movie cracked me up... A while back my hubby and I were on an 80's movie kick. We sat down to watch a few with the older boys when......... Oh my word my teenage memory had forgotten parts that were not all that great for family viewing.. So wait until kiddos are in bed and get ready for fast ride.. This movie is so stinkin' funny.. Great actors, great songs, great comedy, great cars etc. There are so many one lines that have gone down in history like~ "BUELLER..... BUELLER", "FERRIS", "In a nut shell I HATE MY BROTHER", "When Cameron was in Egypt's Land....?Let my Cameron go!" " Ferris Bueller, You're my hero". Can't you just see Jeannie stomping up and down...

You can't help but love the scene where Ferris and Cameron pretend to be Sloan's father and then pick her up in from of the school in Cameron's dad's sports car run sneak into a neighbors pool, have a lunch date at the same restaurant as Ferris's father and join in the parade.... Don't forget all the pencils Grace pulls out of her hair through out the movie..

Love the "80's"
Later Dudett's
Brooke

Sankari's Card ~ Inspired by the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Okay so all I have to say is that I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! I can't believe its taken us so long to do it! I used to memorize parts of it - and must have seen this over and over again! I absolutely have WAY too many favorite parts of this movie to pick one favorite scene - but definitely the chase scene at the end, the part where they go to pick up Sloane, the Save Ferris sign, when Mr. Rooney says "I weep for the future" and then the very last scene when he gets on the bus (lol!!) - but I guess one of my all time favorite parts of the movie is when Ferris disappears and then reappears on the float during the parade and starts singing!!! I LOVEEEE that! And isn't Matthew Broderick SO cute? I had such a crush on him (but I am forever loyal to Johnny Depp!)

So for my card -
  1. my inspiration was Ferris on the float with a microphone singing
  2. and the sentiment: You're my Hero - comes from Cameron when he tells Ferris: "You're my Hero"
I wanted to create a bright card - inspired by the 80's sense of color and pattern and used this image of a girl holding a mic - as similar to ferris holding a mic. I can't wait to give this to one of my girlfriends - who is truly my hero - seriously - she simplyyyyy amazes me!

-------------------------
So we hope you will play along with us this week!!! Its TOOO much fun going on not to! So come on and go down memory lane and get your Ferris ON!!! Just create a card inspired by the movie: Ferris Bueller's Day Off with the challenge requirement being: to use a sentiment from one of the songs in the movie OR to use a line from the movie as your sentiment (or create your own sentiment from something you think Ferris would say)!!! Your creations can be inspired by something from the movie: such as the colors, the clothes, the characters, the time period, from different scenes in the movie - whatever inspires you from this movie!

Please link to your blogpost by June 3 by 8:00 PM CST!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #80 - Becoming Jane

Welcome Everyone to our 80th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge, where every Saturday we pick a movie from which we draw inspiration from to create a card, scrapbook layout or 3D item. This week is our 80th challenge (the big 8-0! !!) and we thought we would honor our roots by picking the movie: "Becoming Jane" in honor our our very first challenge CSCC#1 Pride and Prejudice". When Brooke and I thought to start this challenge - it was because we both simply loved Jane Austen movies - and couldn't talk about it enough. There is something about the Austen's writings, where she just allows the reader to dive into the heart of her characters, feel their longings, feel their dreams and feel their hearts. This movie does an absolute splendid job of capturing that and we hope that if you haven't seen it - that you will and join us this week, where the challenge requirement is to use pearls and flowers in your creation that is inspired by this movie "Becoming Jane".

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie ~ Becoming Jane

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE All Things Jane Austen!!! When I sat down to make this card I wanted to add little elements from all her writings. Here are some of my little inspirations from the movie. When you received letters in Jane's time letters and envelops were closed with a SEAL. I used the letter "A" stamps to create my seal. In the Movie "Becoming Jane" Cassie gave Jane her PEARLS to help fund her escape with Tom Lefroy. Bouquets of flowers that are offered to her ladies in her books. Lace for all the amazing COSTUMES, Pattern paper for all the beautiful DRAPRIES and fabrics, In Jane's wedding scenes you will find doves. You can even find DOVES in appear in Mansfield park as an offering of Love. Birds were a status symbol in this time period. I added FABRIC LEAVES on this card to represent all the millinery work ladies of this time did to pass the time. I had so many things that I could add to represent Jane and her writings but I will just have to make more cards... Darn...

In the Movie "Becoming Jane" You find yourself hoping that she will marry.. But then have to remind yourself that she never will. I love this inside view into Jane's life. How she create all these different world that she was never apart of is just amazing... Jane had such a wonderful father who wanted nothing more that for her to be happy... Jane's Mother wanted her to find happiness as well. She just had a hard time showing it.. Jane and her sister Cassandra remained close there whole lives.. One thing you will come to admire about Jane through out this movie is here determination to be true to herself... Even if it's not fashionable....

I can't wait to see all your creations. Stop by and say hi.. Enjoy the show..

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie ~ Becoming Jane
There is something about Jane Austen that always settles my heart and also makes it ache and long and love in no other way. The words that Mr.Darcy speaks to Elizabeth when he tells her that he ardently loves and admires her is forever fresh everytime I read it. I don't know how many times I have read her works, and each time I simply feel like I am transported out of my living room into whatever scene she has written about. Watching this movie about how she becomes Jane Austen - how her heart longs, loves, breaks and carries on - and how that influences her writings - was just amazing (and yes heart breaking at the end). As most of you know, I am a big Johnny Depp fan - but James McAvoy in this movie did quite an amazing job and I got a wee bit swept away in his eyes!
Speaking of getting swept away - I made this card for my wonderful DH who swept me off of my feet the very day I meant him. Tomorrow is our anniversary and I wanted to make a special card for him in honor of our special day :) I love this quote that Tom says: "What value will there ever be in life, if we are not together"....

Please stop by my blog for more details! I hope that you will play along with us for this challenge!!!
hugs,
Sankari :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #79 - New Moon

Welcome Everyone to our 79th challenge where this week we are featuring the blockbuster hit that is the second installment of the Twillight Series: New Moon!!! We thought a fun challenge requirement would be to add a little bit of silver to your card creations! Here is a quick synopsis of the movie for those of you who might not have seen it yet:

Bella Swan is still very much in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. The rest of the vampire coven who call themselves the Cullens, especially Alice, decide to throw Bella a private party for her eighteenth birthday. Things go wrong when Bella slices her finger and thirst overcomes the vampires. As a result of the danger Bella was put through, the Cullen family decide to leave Forks, Washington. At first Bella exempts herself from all social activities, until she realizes she can coexist with childhood friend, Jacob Black. As usual for Bella, things aren't what they seem. Something is happening to Jacob that he can't explain to Bella, and their friendship starts to deteriorate. But when someone from Bella's past comes back to haunt her, everything will change again.

We have a wonderful bit of blog candy for this challenge! Kathy from PixieDust Studios is an amazing designer who creates wonderful digital stamps. She has created the sweetest Edward and Bella stamps and the winner of this challenge will receive some yummy Twilight digi stamps designed by Kathy herself!!!! We were so excited to play along with these sweet Twilight images!

Sankari's Card Inspired by New Moon
I watched New Moon with one of friend's daughter who is a young teenager - the movie theater was filled with teenagers who were very "appreciative" of Jacob's physique :) I loved the scene of Edward and Bella in the field - where their love feels and seems eternal and timeless.

I used Kathy's beautiful stamp to create this card with the sentiment that I typed out using the Bleeding Cowboys font that reads: "Love Sparkles".
I had so much fun creating this and I know you guys are going to knock our socks off with your creations this week!!!
big hugs!
Sankari :)

Kathy's Creations Inspired by New Moon:
Look at these amazing creations that Kathy created!!! How cool are these?!! I adore adore the one of Jacob and the heat index beside it!! That is hot hot hot!

Brooke's Card Inspired by "New Moon"

A Huge shout out to Kathy for being our guest designer and sponsor this week. I had so much fun coloring Kathy's digi image of Edward and Bella. I have to say I giggled a little bit when I came to upload my card.. Sankari and I think alike we both used the same image... I had the image colored last week and was sick when It was time to finish up the card and post. When I finished this card I had to laugh.. Bella is so not a girlie girl.. So I think Alice was my inspiration for this card. Alice is one of my favorite characters in this series. She is such a loving, caring, happy go luck girl who has such a passion for fashion. If you have read the series you will remember that Alice has no memory of her past. You will have to read the book to find out why if you don't know... So what you see is a pure and innocent girl if you can call a Vampire innocent. lol! When I was reading the book I really LOVED Edward then switched to Jacob and back to Edward.. But Hoped Bella would pick Jacob and snap out of the helpless and irrational person she had become.. when I watched the movie I was really rooting for Jacob. In the movie Edward doesn't come across as the same strong, hunky, rational person he is in the book. In the Movie he is just skinny, Not chiseled marble, and whiney. But I still love the movies anyway...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #78 - Much Ado About Nothng

Welcome everyone to our 78th movie challenge, where this week's movie challenge was was made in 1993 and features the talent of Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington and even Keanu Reeves. If you haven't seen this adaptation of this Shakespearean play onto the silver screen and you like this kind of period pieces - you must watch this movie - its really well done and so full of joy, wit, humor - along with some elements of Shakespearean tragedy/betrayal - but in the end everything returns unto joy :) This week, we picked the challenge requirement to be "to use parchment paper" in our creations. You can create your own parchment paper with some distressing or tea staining technique, etc.

Brooke's card inspired by the movie ~ Much Ado About Nothing

When I think of Much Ado About Nothing I think of dancing and singing and merriment, heart break, scandal, sisterhood, brotherhood, wine, grapes, Italian countryside, natural colors, weddings, white blouses and music. I love the soundtrack from this movie. It's been years since I have listened to it because it's on CASSETTE. LOL! When I was thinking about this card I knew I was going to keep it natural and simple. I wanted to bring in the windows and wooden beams so I choose to make a grind with Kraft paper. I used my Score-Pal to make the grid on the Kraft paper then used a sponge and ink to antique the paper. If you haven't used parchment I hope you are able to find some. I love the feel of it. it's kind of a mix of card stock and vellum in texture and appearance. I found it at our local kraft store.

I know you are thinking what does Mother day have to do with "Much Ado With Nothing" well it doesn't directly.. But as I was making this card I though it would be a beautiful Mother day card for my Mother in Law. She loves blue.

Hope you enjoy the show.
Hugs,
Brooke

Sankari's card inspired by the movie ~ Much Ado About Nothing
I just love this movie! I remember reading this Shakespeare play in highschool and then when I watched this movie - it was like it brought out the beauty of this play onto the big screen. If you haven't seen this movie you MUST!!!! The inspiration for my card comes from my favorite couple in this play/movie - Beatrice and Benedick (played by Emma Thompson & Kenneth Branagh <--- who used to be married) and they do such an incredible job to bring these characters to life! I LOVE LOVE how they are both convinced by their friends that the other one is in love with them and they in turn who used to despise each other, begin to fall in love with each other. Their quick wit that they used to joust with each other begins to be used to detail their love for each other - it is just so sweet!
This is why I used the beautiful sentiment: "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides" which is from the gorgeous stamp set: Feel the Sun from Verve stamps. When Benedick and Beatrice realize that they both love each other and are loved by each other - for real - there is this joy and rejoicing and merriment in their hearts (and in the hearts of all their friends). It is such a beautiful sentiment that describes this joy as feeling the sun from both sides! LOVE this sentiment!

I had so much fun making this card! Click here to check out more details on my blog.
Can't wait to see your movie inspired creation!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)

This week we have three wonderful guest designers who are joining us! Please give a warm welcome to the very talented Barbara, Libby and Tomi Ann!! Welcome Ladies and thank you for sharing your Much Ado About Nothing Inspired Cards!!!

Guest Designer: Barbara's creation inspired by: Much Ado About Nothing
There is so much fun, wine and merriment in this movie! I picked the nonny nonny sentiment for that very reason coupled by all the beautiful winery scenery in the Italian rolling hills.
This a perfect back drop for love among witty and timid.
Thanks letting me the guest inspiration this week! Barbara

Guest Designer: Libby's creation inspired by: Much Ado About Nothing
Doesn't my card immediately make you think of the Shakespearean comedy Much Ado About Nothing?!

No?? Well let me explain... one of my favorite scenes in the movie is when they are tricking Benedick into thinking Beatrice loves him. During this scene, Claudio whispers "Bait the hook well, this fish will bite!". Voila! My card inspiration. As for the rule to include parchment, this probably isn't quite what Brooke & Sankari had in mind, but I took some parchment paper from my kitchen and cut out the white wave under the fish.
I'd like to thank Brooke & Sankari for the Audrey award, and for letting me be one of their guest designers today. This is my very favorite challenge blog, so I'm thrilled to be here!

Guest Designer: Tomi Ann's creation inspired by: Much Ado About Nothing

"Our assignment was to use parchment in some way, and I have to admit that it was a huge challenge for me! The word parchment just brought to mind the old-school mottled paper that I used to print resumes on when I worked at OfficeMax in college -- so not my style now! I thought about the challenge all week but just couldn't get any mojo going. Then last night inspiration struck at last, and I ended up with not one but TWO cards that I really love! They are both wedding cards, because what better theme for Much Ado About Nothing?! For this first card, what inspired me while thinking about "parchment" was the rich texture of that paper.
I was also inspired by the costumes in the movie -- nearly everyone in the movie is dressed in some shade of white or ivory throughout. I sprayed the base of the card with "Old Lace" Glimmer Mist, then layered on the pretty scroll-y layer cut from the same cardstock. I love the white-on-white look, and that the glimmer mist gives it just enough sparkle to deepen that texture.

THANK YOU! So much ladies for being our guest designers this week!! you have provided such great inspiration!!! Please take a minute to visit their blogs and check out all the beautiful details of their gorgeous cards!!! :
-----------------------------------------
Who is going to be the guest designer next week? It could be YOU! All you have to do is to create a card, layout, altered project, etc. that is inspired by the movie:MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and you could be our guest designer next week! The inspiration can come from the costumes, the dialogue, the music, the themes, the characters - anything at all from the movie!! **** The challenge requirement for this movie is use parchment paper in your creations!

Please link to us by this Thursday, May 13th by 8PM Central Time! and we will announce the Audrey winner on Friday with sneak peeks for the next movie!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #77 - America's Sweethearts

Welcome to our 77th Cinema Saturday, where this week we are featuring the 2001 all star cast movie America's Sweethearts. John Cusack and Catherine Zeta Jones play broken up Hollywood sweethearts who are brought back together by their publicist and sister. Through their rancid break up, we see how love should be and the sweetness that it can have. So this week's challenge requirement is to create a love card - any kind of love card inspired by the movie! You could create a love card about sisterhood, friendship, etc. (If you have Netflix, this movie is on the watch instantly group). Here is the trailer for the movie:

Brooke's Card Inspired by the movie America's Sweethearts:
I have to say this was not one of my favorite movie of all time.. I though it was a really depressing movie actually.. One of the main things I drew from this movie was a "recipe" of what a good relationship really take to be successful. I felt like this movie was a "recipe" of how not to act. Wether it's you friend, sister or spouse.. You must always treat everyone the way you would like to be treated if not better. I have really been blessed to have found someone who treats me like the most important person in the world. And who has taught me to be a better person.
"My American Sweetheart"
I was on Beate's blog a while back and saw her tutorial on a easle card so I decided to give it a try.. I you would like to give it a go you can check out the tutorial here for the details.
Big hugs,
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie America's Sweethearts:
I have always enjoyed John Cusack ever since high school (wow! that just brought back images of pajamas parties and sleepovers :) This movie also has Hank Azaria, who it depends I created this card inspired by Julia Roberts character Kiki who is always so sweet (perhaps too much so) and her love for "Eddie" emerges from a sweet friendship: so I created a love card with the sentiment: "love is sweet"

Big hugs,
Sankari
