Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #34 "Oceans 11"

Welcome Everyone to our 34th Cinema Card Creative Challenge, where today we are totally excited to feature the movie Oceans 11 :) This movie was originally made in 1960 with 5 of the famous Rat Pack  (including: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford - what a crew! This same concept was redone in 2001 with the whole new Rat Pack - including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, the late Bernie Mac and Julia Roberts. Since its release in 2001 , the remake has done amazingly well and has gone onto create 2 more sequels - each charming, witty and brilliant. If you haven't seen these movies yet - we are sure you will find them clever and entertaining.

The requirement this week is to use brads
in your creations (brads for Brad Pitt (lol!).

This week we have 2 wonderful Guest Designers Nellie and Robin- who were our Audrey winners from last week for their beautiful creations (Nellie's creation, Robin's creation) from the movie  Twilight (our 32nd challenge) creations!Thank you so much ladies for being our guest designers - your creations are simply Vegas style beautiful!

Brooke's Card Inspired by the Movie: Oceans 11

This movie is one of my DH's favorite's he looks forward to the new "Oceans" coming out each time.. I have to say I really enjoy them as well... There are a lot of pretty faces to look at in the "Oceans" movies... Another fact I learned while reading up on this movie... It's a re-make... Hello... What planet do I live on... Not sure how that slipped past me...  It is a "Rat Pack" movie.. I am SO going to get my hands on this flick... Here is a link to the original info on I.M.B.D.
What a COOL cast...

Hugs
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the Movie: Oceans 11
Ever since I first saw this movie (the 2001 version) - I was totally charmed by the Clooney-Pitt duo and the was totally loving what director Steven Soderbergh did with this all-star cast - seriously LOVED the the dynamics between all the characters and the music and the quick witty lines and the uber coolness of it all :)
I went with the charm aspect and how Julia Robert's character is George Clooney's missing link - and that in the end he wasn't just pulling the heist of the century for the sake of the money but also for love - hence the sentiment: You are my Lucky Charm...

You can check out the card details on my blog
HOpe you all have a chance to play along this week!
Hugs to all,
Sankari :)

Nellie's Card Inspired by the Movie: Oceans 11

Thanks to Sankari and Brooke for selecting my Twilight book for the Audrey, I am completely honored to be a guest designer again this week!! Oceans 11....soooo much eye candy....I LOVE this movie! George Clooney is my favorite. He is soooo sexy. For this card, I decided to find a Las Vegas sign template online. It was really easy, I was able to change the text to make it match my card. (Check out my other card using different text over at my blog) After changing the text, saving image and printing it onto vellum, I just cut it out, and added the brads (he he, BRAD Pitt)....I used some fantastic Hambly clear overlays to give it the 'Vegas' swanky casino look and I used a shimmery gold Hambly screenprint as the base. This was a fun card to make. OOh, and I added some liquid glass for the 'lights' and then sprinkled some glitter! Yay! i [heart] glitter. Enjoy!
You can check out more details of Nellie's glitterlicious card on her blog: HERE

Robin's Card Inspired by the Movie: Oceans 11

My inspiration for this card was pulled from many things. First, the suit is similar to what a lot of the Danny’s team wore, the buttons are brads (ala Brad Pitt), the poker chips and cards are from the casino and ‘good luck’ can work towards the gambling and the heist in the movie. Also, the two aces represent eleven.

You can check out more details of Robin's beautiful suited up card on her blog: HERE

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #33 - Ever After

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! And if you are living in the States: Happy Memorial Day!!! Welcome to our 33rd Cinema Saturday where we are happy to feature the 1998 romantic fantasy movie: Ever After - a Cinderella Story, starring Drew Barrymore, Angelica Houston and Dougray Scott. This is a beautiful version of the Cinderella story that weaves the fairytale with realism. We are also happy to have two wonderful guest designers joining us this week - Nellie and Jaimee who were our Audrey Recipients from our 31st Challenge: Steel Magnolias. Thank you so much Ladies for joining us this week - your creations are simply beautiful!

This week's requirement is to use flourishes in your creation.
Have fun flourishing your card!!!

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie Ever AFter -

I loved watching the movie Ever After because of its playful and revised version of the fairytale. I love how learned Danielle is and her wit and repar with Prince was so refreshing. In making a card for this movie, I decided to not make a card - but to make Cinderella/Danielle's glass slipper. I tried with clear acetate - but had some problems - so I went with the glitter sheet route :) I love the shot of the glass slipper in the movie - it is such a beautiful shoe!! LOVE it - wish I had a few of those lying around !!! lol!

Today is also our 8th anniversary :) yay - so I was going to leave this little shoe on the steps with a note to where find the next clue :)

I hope you all play along!!! This is such a great movie with so many lovely images from which to craft from!!! Thank you to our wonderful Guest designers Jaimee and Nellie who did such an amazing job with their Ever After creations!!

You can find more information on my blog about how to make this shoe.

Sending you all hugs!
Sankari :)

Brooke Card Inspired by the Movie Ever After:

I have to say I just love any movie that is period piece. Whether it's true of not... I love how this movie open up with the Brothers Grim visiting with the Great.....Grand daughter of Danielle de Barbarac.. The first experiences most of us have with this story is of course the Disney version.. My was with my mother childhood Disney book version.. I treasured that book and looked at is all the time...
Besides adding my flourishes I new from the start I wanted to add a French Blue and the Portrait of "La Scapagliata" by Leonardo Da Vinci..(More detail on my blog)

I love the strength and fight that Danielle has... We all want to stand up for our selves and act the way she does in this movie but some times we lack the strength to do so..

I have to agree with Jaimee's comments below about Leonardo Da Vince.. He is one of my favorite part of this movie as well. I love his Whit and encouragement he gives her..

Leonardo da Vinci: I shall leave walking on water to the Son of God. Fortunately I tripped over an angel.
Leonardo da Vinci: I know that a life without love is no life at all

[after DaVinci opens a locked door by removing the pins from the hinges]
Louise: Why, that was pure genius!
Leonardo da Vinci: Yes, I shall go down in history as the man who opened a door!

And the line Jaimee adds is a favorite as well..

Hugs thanks to Jaimee and Nellie for recieving the Audrey's last week and joining us as this weeks guest designers...

Hugs
Brooke :)

Jaimee's Card Inspired by the movie Ever After:

I just adore this movie! It is so sweet and romantic, not to mention Drew Barrymore is one of my favourite actress'. My inspiration doesn't come from one specific place in the film this time, more so the 'vibe' ;) of the story. I wanted to capture the sweet softness of it , so i opted for the pale blue and green colour scheme and cherish sentiment, the fairytale story elements, represented by the flourishes, the two sides of Danielle; rustic and elegant represented by the combination of the rustic flowers and the pearl brads and also the references to flight and freedom the bird motif.

My favourite part of this movie is the Character of Leonardo Da Vinci, he is such a kind and grandfatherly figure. I just adore his easy manner and quick acceptance of the soul of people irrelevant of their class. He sees Danielle from the beginning as a special young lady, and his knowledge that she is but a peasant changes nothing for him.
Danielle: Signore, my name is Danielle de Barbarac, and I am but a servant.
Leonardo da Vinci: Yes, and I'm the bastard son of a peasant. What does that have to do with anything?
I also love the representation of the character of Danielle, i love how her ideas challenge the Prince challenge the way he looks at himself. I think that her character shows us that just one person has the power to influence others in a positive way. Not necessarily that we can all be the Queen of France ! lol But she (and Da vinci) change people like Henry and Jacqueline just by the power of their convictions.
take care Jaimee

(you can check out more details on Jaimee's blog- click here)

Nellie's Card Inspired by the movie Ever After:
This is my first time to be a guest designer for anything, so I am pretty excited. The movie this week is Ever After with Drew Barrymore. I had never seen the movie, so I rented it on Monday and watched it right away. I could hardly wait to make something with this Cinderella story as my inspiration!!
The very first movie I saw in a movie theater was Disney's Cinderella. I remember hating the wicked stepmother and sisters, and I wanted to believe in the magic that took Cinderella away from the horrible home she knew, and turned her into a PRINCESS. I think there are many little girls who can relate to this story.

Ever After is beautiful. I was so inspired after watching it!! Check out my blog for all the details on this card and gift bag....and for a really funny story about the 'creative process'.....I will also have a link to a tutorial on creating 'bling' flourishes using stickles (or liquid glass + glitter) on a transparency. Thank you Sankari and Brooke for selecting me to be a guest designer, this was so much fun! And congrats to Jamiee, this week's other guest designer!!

(you can check out more details on Nellie's blog- click here)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #32 - Twilight

We had a total blast guessing the movie last night with you! And seriously - you guys are amazing with your guessing ability. This week we are so excited to feature the movie: Twilight!!! This movie is based on the insanely popular book saga by Stephanie Meyers and since its release the book/movie has totally created a phenomenon in the popular culture. Stephanie Meyer's has totally created a whole new pop culture with her series, similar to the fan culture that JK Rowling created with the Harry Potter series (and interestingly enough, Robert Pattinson who plays Edward Cullen in Twilight, played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter IV. (I feel like we should dedicate this movie to one of our challenge participants: Erica - who has been guessing this movie for the past few cinema challenges! Erica - this one is for you!)

The requirement this week is a fun one:
to use the colors Red and Black in your card with Sparkles!!
You are not limited to these two colors -and have fun with adding some sparkle to your card!
So have fun and enjoy!

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Twilight

I had so much fun making a card this week! I know that we can use other colors other than black and red - but I went with these two colors and added some sparkley bling. I loved the cover of the book with the apple - and the symbols that the apple conjures up is an interesting one. According to WikiAnswers: in the movie Twilight: the apple stands for the forbidden fruit - Bella is the fruit and her blood is forbidden to Edward. The whole notion of love transcending different forbidden interactions (vampire/human, etc.) was something that is just immemorial. They are both the apple of each other's eye - and so even though their love is forbidden - the purity of the love transcends any social convention and allows the walls that have been built up in their hearts to crumble.

According to the author of the book Twilight, Stephanie Meyer, the apple for her represents the following: "The apple on the cover of Twilight represents "forbidden fruit." I used the scripture from Genesis (located just after the table of contents) because I loved the phrase "the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil." Isn't this exactly what Bella ends up with? A working knowledge of what good is, and what evil is. The nice thing about the apple is it has so many symbolic roots. You've got the apple in Snow White, one bite and you're frozen forever in a state of not-quite-death... Then you have Paris and the golden apple in Greek mythology—look how much trouble that started. Apples are quite the versatile fruit. In the end, I love the beautiful simplicity of the picture. To me it says: choice." -Stephenie Meyer

It was so much fun to make this card and watch the movie at the same time - and at the same time - reading all of your guesses!! I feel so lucky to be part of this blog challenge and have this chance to get to know you!!! Thank you all!!!

For more information about this card you can check out some of the details on my blog :)!
Lots of hugs and sunny smiles!!
Sankari :)

Brooke's Card Inspired by the movie: Twilight

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #31 - Steel Magnolias

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!!!

This week, in honor of Mother's Day, we are proud to feature the all-star cast from the 1989 movie: Steel Magnolias which has been rated as the number one Mother's Day movie! There is so much of this movie that we love, the friendship, the mother-daughter dynamics and of course the resilience, strength and beauty of women. According to Wikipedia: "The film’s title suggests the female characters are 'as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel' and this represents what a 'Steel Magnolia' is." Shelby (one of the characters) has diabetes in this movie - and her portrayal raised so much awareness of diabetes - that this movie is endorsed by The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Joslin Diabetes Center." This comedy-drama will truly touch your heart - and according to IMDb, the tagline to this movie is: "The funniest movie ever to make you cry"

If you haven't seen Steel Magnolias before - no worries - you can watch the whole thing on YouTube!!! This movie is divided into 12 parts on YouTube - and you can click on them one at a time - here is the link to Part 1.

REQUIREMENT: Because Shelby is obsessed with Pink in this movie - we thought that our requirement this would be to add a touch of pink or a whole lot of pink to your creations!

Brooke's Card Inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias

Inspire by Shelby's signature color Pink, Pink and more Pink.... The little birds are a reminder of all the hard work Drum did to get the birds out of the trees for the reception and all the madness that created. Shelby's wedding colors are... Blush and Bashful(pink and pink).

Come to my blog for more Pink fun...

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE WOMEN OF THE WORLD!

Hugs
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias

I remember watching this movie a long time ago - and just laughing and crying - but somehow wathcing it this week as I gpt ready to make my card - I appreciated this movie at a whole different level . I think it is because this is the first time i wm re-watchign the movie after becoming a mother... and the experinece was totally different. I feel like I understood Sall Field's role sooo muc more - and the scnee with Julia Robetrts and her baby - when her husband comes home ( - that scnee just had me in tears - I can't imagine something like that - and it was hard for me to eath that - because I was thinking of my little wee ones... I adore adore Sally Field in this movie - she is such an inspiration - and her relationship with her daughter in this movie is so real, perfect and wonderful.

So it was that relationship that I wanted to honor with this sentiment and card:
(what is funny - is that Brooke and I used the same layout without even knowing it! talk about being on the same page!!!) :)

I love this sentiment - and I thought it so accurately describes the relationship between mother and daughter in the movie. The sentiment reads: You have been my inspiration, my confidante, my friend. Because of you, I've learned to love, to forgive and to live a life filled with purpose."
You can check out my blog for more details:

Wishing each of you a wonderful mother's day!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

We thought of changing it up a bit this week where the Audrey recipient from each week will be our guest designer for the next week!

So are you ready to play along!!?!!!

We sure hope you join us this week! All you have to do is to make a card or layout oraltered project that is inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias.
