CSCC#51- All About Eve and a new Sponsor!

Good Morning Everyone!! A huge thank you to Gina K. of Gina K. Designs for being our guest designer for our 50th challenge last week where we did the movie: Pretty Woman and for sponsoring some yummy blog candy (more about blog candy info for the Audrey winner and guesser from last week's challenge towards the end of the post ;). This week we are excited to feature the 1950 black and white 6 time Oscar winning movie: "All About Eve" starring Bette Davis, Ann Baxter, George Sanders, Marilyn Monroe and Celeste Holme. AND this week, in honor of celebrating our 51st challenge, we are so excited to have Pamela from Firecracker Designs sponsoring this challenge with some delicious blog candy!!! We were so excited to use Pamela's stamp sets to create projects for this classic movie! If you haven't seen this movie - you can read about the storyline Also this might be a hard movie to find at your local video store - but you could also try the library or netflix. OR you can watch the movie here on YouTube (there are 13 parts to the movie - click on this one to start).

We hope that you will play along with us this week - the challenge requirement is a fun one: and in one word is: BLING :) So we can't wait to see your blinged creations. For those of you who are not able to watch the movie - you can draw inspiration from the Theater for your creations.

Last week, our Audrey went to Libby Hickson for her lovely and inspiring card for Challenge #49's movie: The Lord of the Rings, Two Towers. And so this week we are so excited to have Libby as our guest designer! Here are our creations for this week's movie:

Sankari's Card: inspired by the movie: All About Eve:
using the stamp set: Theater Lights

First of all a huge thanks to all of you who played along last week and for all of you who dropped by to wish us a happy 50th challenge!!! We couldn't have done this without YOU! You guys make this so much fun for us and we thank you from our hearts for being part of this challenge blog! This week, I was excited to play along with this Oscar Award winning movie - and since I couldn't find it in the stores, I watched it on YouTube and was inspired to make this card: Now, the movie is black and white - but for some reason - just the thought of the theater made me think of Broadway lights and I wanted to make a fun and bright card in honor of the star of the show: Bette Davis. Here is the card: You're a Star inspired by Bette:

I LOVE these stamps! They were so much fun to work with and I have been dreaming of a stamp set with a film roll on it!! LOVE it! I blinged this up with some Kaiser Kraft rhinestones and some Martha Stewart chunky glitter for the star. I have to say that there is something lovely about watching older movies and listening to the dialogue that is well written, witty and very smart :) Can't wait to see your blinged inspired All About Eve creations!!!
Big hugs!
Sankari :)

Sense bling was our inspiration starter I though I would us a few crystals just spread out on the paper.. They photographed kind of funny don't you think... Sense this move is a BIG silver screen movie with a huge case of favorites.. I decided to keep it simple and not color in the image.. I also wanted to keep the color scheme simple. This is a great movie to watch on a cozy winter day/night don't forget it's 3 hours long.... My kiddos watched the last part of it with me after school and liked it... I thought that was kinda cool.. Most kids are that interested in old movies..

Thanks to Libby for showing of her mad designer skill and to Pamela for the stamps to play with...

Hugs
Brooke

Guest Designer: Libby's card inspired by the movie: All About Eve:
using the stamp set: Theater Lights

I'm so excited to be a guest designer this week on my very favorite challenge blog!! Although I'm not really into the classic movies as much, I absolutely adore "All About Eve". Bette Davis was such a fantastic actress, and the dialogue in this movie is so sharp and witty. Definitely true "Classic Hollywood" to me! For my card I just went with the general themes of the movie - the theater & leading ladies. And the fact that Eve is so eager to be a star and have roses thrown to her from the audience! Thanks Brooke and Sankari for having this wonderful, fun blog, and for letting me play along with you this week!
Thanks so much Libby for being our wonderful guest designer! Your card is simply beautiful and captures the movie! For more details of Libby's card - please check out: Libby's Little Addiction.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #50 - PRETTY WOMAN - with special guest designer Gina K!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

Welcome to our 50th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge where this week's movie is the 1990 Oscar nominated movie Pretty Woman. And today we have a very special Guest Designer (drum roll please :) Gina K. from Gina K Designs! I can't even tell you HOW excited we were when Gina agreed to be our guest designer for our 50th movie challenge and I am telling you she is just the sweetest person ever! This week, Gina has picked our movie: Pretty Woman and the challenge that she has picked to go with it is paper piecing!!!

What inspires you when you watch the movie - is it the clothes, the music, the dialogue, the themes? Whatever it is that inspires you from this movie - we can't wait to see your take on it as you create a card - just add some paper piecing to it!!

This 50th challenge is pretty special as it all started as an idea last fall. And then I remember calling Brooke (who was one of my blog buddies that I met doing another challenge site :) and we totally connected over our love of movies :) So I am so thankful to have created this challenge site with one of my best friends (who I can't wait to meet someday!) and also for all of YOU for keeping us going and playing along. You have really become part of our Cinema family! We love guessing the Friday sneak peeks with you (and you guys are SOOO good!!! I don't know HOW you guess it from these small crops that Brooke does!!! That is why they are so small because you guys are SO good!! I remember that is why at one point we were cropping pictures of grass and clouds from the movies - and you guys would STILL guess the right movie!!! WOW!) We are so thankful for YOU! And also want to welcome all the new faces!!! Please join us this week as we celebrate 50 challenges!!!!! And there is some FANTASTIC BLOG CANDY that Gina is offering that you don't want to miss!!!!! (more on that towards the end!)
Here are our cards inspired by the movie Pretty Woman: We are so thankful to Gina for letting us use her BEAUTIFUL stamps for this week's card creations! Thank you GK!!! And we welcome Jackie Wilcox as our guest designer this week for her beautiful card from Challenge #48 movie: School of Rock! We are so grateful to have you on board!!! yay!!!

I have only seen this movie on t.v. and ages ago.. So when I read up on all the in's and out's of this movie on I.M.D.B. there were lots of comments about how it's was a modern version of Cinderella so I thought that the sentiment.. "You're the fairest of them all" sounded very princess-like even if it's a Snow White quote... I {HEART} the little lipstick and nail polish Adorable... hand to add them to the card..

When I think of this movie Julia Roberts's brown with white polka-dots comes straight to mind.. I remember how much everyone was a buzz about how great that dress was.. So when Gina told us she would love to have the technique be "paper Piecing" that juts straight to my mind.. If you want to see the card I made with my interoperation of that great dress you will have to come visit me on my blog... Let me know what you think...

A HUGE thanks to Gina for joining us this week. We have enjoyed chatting on the phone with you as we have prepared for this week. What a truly sweet person you really are.. So kind, generous and thoughtful. We are so proud to call you friend.

We have seen a TON of new faces that have joined us from Gina blog.. We would love to have you all join our weekly challenges and become part of our challenge family... We have really created some amazing friendships through our challenges and hope to share our joy of creating with others...

I hope you all have a GREAT time creating a card/project that is inspired and reflects the movie "Pretty Woman".

p.s. Don't forget to go back to the sneak Peek post and see the un-cropped pictures... :)

HUGS
BROOKE

I love this movie (isn't Roy Orbison's song in your head RIGHT NOW??!!) And I especially LOVE Julia's smile and the way that she discovers who she really is, what she wants and how to make her dreams come true. I love the shopping scene where she and Richard Gere connect begin their falling in love-ness. I created a little Boutique, inspired by Rupa Shevde's stamp set for Gina K. called: Retro Boutique. I love this set full of all kinds of shopping yumminess that I wish were in my closet right now!!! I chose the sentiment : Celebrate in Style! to celebrate our 50th challenge and to celebrate following your dreams which is one of the themes from the movie!

For more information on this card and details. Please stop by my blog!
Thank you so much everyone for all your support during these 50 challenges and here's wishing many more challenges to come!!!
A huge thanks and big hugs to Gina for your support, encouragement and amazing generosity!!! Thank you so much!!!
Big hugs!
Sankari :)

We are so excited to have Gina as our Guest Designer for our 50th Anniversary! Check out her beautiful card and her wonderful inspiration of her card:

"One of the things I really liked about the movie Pretty Woman was when the main character, played by Julia Roberts begins to realize that she is worth so much more than the profession she has chosen. As she dresses up in more elegant and respectable clothing and spends more time with the man who cares for the woman she is inside, she begins to respect herself more. And when that starts to happen, she becomes even more beautiful!"

You have to stop by Gina's blog to see more pics of this AMAZINGLy beautiful card and all the details on it!!!. Thank you so much Gina for helping us celebrate our 50th challenge!!!

Last week, we were wowed by Jackie's card Rock to the Music card that she made for challenge #48's movie School of Rock and as the Audrey Winner for the movie challenge, we are SOOO excited that this week, she joins us as our guest designer for Pretty Woman:

I took my inspiration from the major changes in Vivian's and Edward's lives. Their meeting was a fluke...he was looking for Beverly Hills and she was looking for a "date". During the time they spent together, they helped each other look into themselves and make the changes necessary to have a happier life. The centerpiece of my card is two paper pieced butterflies, a true symbol of change.
For more details, please stop by Jackie's blog: Grammie Loves! Thank you so much Jackie for being one of our guest designers today! Your card is so beautiful and totally is a symbol of the change and beauty within us all!!!

------------------------

So would you like to be one of our Guest Designers? We would love it!!! All you have to do is play along with our challenge and the Audrey winner of that challenge becomes our guest designer for next week. Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #49 - The Two Towers (Lord of the Rings)

Good Morning Everyone - welcome to our 49th Challenge!!! HOW amazing is that! Well, we are starting the party early with some blog candy (more about that later) and are excited to feautre the second movie in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy: The Two Towers!
Do you know that among its 65 WINS, this movie also has two Oscars. This movie brings out the vision of JR.Tolkien's masterpiece book- the Lord of the Rings onto the silver screen (you can check out Tolkien's main page to learn more about him). This second part of the trilogy focuses on the separate journeys of the disbanded Fellowship of the first movie. It is full of beauty and magic (the Ents), of the rousing of the spirit of a people (Rohan), of the coming together and destroying the darkness (Battle at Helm's Deep) and the depth of friendship, trust, loyalty and courage (every single main and side story :). It is an amazing journey to be transported to this other world.

This week's challenge requirement is embossing.
There are SO many different types of embossing that you can do - so don't worry if you don't have any powders or a heat gun. You can always do faux embossing, scoring/embossing, use an embossing plate if you have a Big Shot or Cuttlebug, or of course you can do embossing with powders among others.

This week, we are so pleased to have 2 guest designers join us! Carol Dunstan of Inkantations and Incarnations and our Audrey recipient from last week Jen Cuthbertson of I'm Crafty. Thank you so much ladies for playing along with us!

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie: The Two Towers:

I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy - both the book and the movies. The details, the magic, the transportation into a different land and era is simply magical. And of course, Viggo as Aragorn is SO yummy :) For my card this week, I was inspired by the speech of Sam towards the end of the movie - where he gives Frodo hope in a time of darkness. He says: "Even the Darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer." I love this quote that Sam says - it sort of puts together all the elements of this movie and sets it up for the last movie: The Return of the King. So I printed out this quote in a Hobbit font and cut it out with my spellbinders. I kept the colors muted as the cloaks of the hobbits were and the little heart button is a symbol of Sam's pure hearted devotion to Frodo - so sweet and inspiring!

Please check out my blog for more details, more pictures and a video :) And I hope you will join us and play along this week!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie: "Two Towers"

When I say the dress that Eowyn was wearing I knew I was using blue... As I was watching the movie I had a moment of inspiration when Merry and Pippin were with the Ents (Trees).. So I started a tree that I think ended up looking like it belongs more in Rivendale... This movie as do all the L.O.T.R's movies has such a huge FRIENDSHIP overtone. I wanted to show how loyal all the different characters in this movie are. Sam edifies the ultimate friend.

This card is for all my amazing friends that I have meet through Cinema Saturday challenges...

Love you all.

Come see my inspiration and a little more... Here

Guest Designer: Carol Dunstan's bookmark inspired by the movie: The Two Towers:

In our minds - Lord of the Rings = Carol Dunstan. She totally breathes LOTR and knows every single detail of every single detail of the movie and book. We were so pleased that she joins us today as our guest designer:

I'm sure you can imagine that I was ecstatic to be asked to guest design for Cinema Saturday's Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers challenge. Those of you who have seen the Extended Edition dvd sets will have noticed that each one has a different style - FOTR is Elvish, TT is Rohirric (if that isn't a word it is now!) and ROTK... well maybe I will save that for when the girls nominate that as the weeks challenge! Anyway, it seemed that the thing to do would be to make something for The Two Towers that had a Rohan theme. One thing that really stood out for me was all the banners that are displayed in Meduseld, so I selected one and based my piece on that. I also have a bookmark of one of these banners, so I decided to make one of my own.

Thank you so much Carol for being our guest designer for this movie - love this beautiful bookmark that you have created! You must visit Carol's blog Inkantations and Inkarnations for more yummy inspiration and details!

Guest Designer: Jen Cuthbertson's card inspired by the movie: The Two Towers:
I am so honored to be a guest designer this week! When Sankari asked me, of course I said yes, but there was true panic as I wondered whether I could honor this movie, this challenge, and you all with my creation this week.

When I think of LOTR: The Two Towers, there are a few things that come immediately to mind - the big battle scene, Aragorn's attraction to Eowyn, in spite of his love for Arwen, and the dichotomy of Frodo and Sam's mistrust of Gollum but their understanding of the need to follow him. All of that on one card...including embossing...what to do? I know! Black and white to show the character struggles and something metal for the battle.

I knew immediately that for the black/white, I wanted to try a new trick my friend Maya showed me - to emboss white powder on black cardstock and black powder on white cardstock. I chose an image that spoke Elven to me (I really don't have very many options here, lol), cut the strips of paper, taped them together then stamped the image in Versamark ink and heat embossed them. My husband thought they looked like a gate and I made my first attempt at a tri-panel card. I'd never made a card with this layout before and wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I really like it!

Depicting the Battle of Helm's Deep was tough! I tried to represent the metal of the armor and weaponry by using embossed aluminum foil! I simply took a sheet of foil from the roll in the kitchen and ran it through my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. Voila!

My final zhuzhes were adding the ribbon tie to close the card, a vellum interior liner, and ruby rhinestones. Fun!

Thank you all for your continued inspiration and for the honor of being a guest this week! I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Thank you so much Jen for playing along with us and your creation is simply EPIC! Please visit Jen's Blog: I'm Crafty for more details!
--------------------------------

And a huge thanks to all that played last week - even with the tough challenge of having cork as our requirement for the movie: School of Rock. We loved looking at all of your rocking creations and our attention was caught by Jackie's Rocking to the music creation. We hope that you will accept our Audrey Award Jackie and join us as our guest designer next week.

--------------------------------

So are you ready to play along!!! There is blog candy involved this week! Well, to celebrate our 50th anniversary (next week) we are having some yummy blog candy this week, next week and the week after!!! Three weeks of yummy candy! And to start it off, this week's Audrey winner will get the stamp set of her choice from Taylored Expressions (this is a $21.95 value and is for both international and national players!) So what do you need to do to play along?! Well, just create a card inspired by the movie: The Two Towers with some embossing - and link it up here! Your inspiration can come from the costumes, the dialogue, the music, the themes, the characters, the colors - anything at all from the movie!

Please link to us by Thursday, September 17 at 9pm PST

We can't wait to see your lovely creations!!! A huge thank you to all of those who have been playing with us since the very beginning and a huge thank you to those who have joined us recently - and huge thank you to all those who read our blog or stop by for a visit!!! You guys have made this journey so much fun for us!!!

Cheers!!!
Hugs to all,
Sankari and Brooke :)
