Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #31 - Steel Magnolias

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!!!

This week, in honor of Mother's Day, we are proud to feature the all-star cast from the 1989 movie: Steel Magnolias which has been rated as the number one Mother's Day movie! There is so much of this movie that we love, the friendship, the mother-daughter dynamics and of course the resilience, strength and beauty of women. According to Wikipedia: "The film’s title suggests the female characters are 'as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel' and this represents what a 'Steel Magnolia' is." Shelby (one of the characters) has diabetes in this movie - and her portrayal raised so much awareness of diabetes - that this movie is endorsed by The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the Joslin Diabetes Center." This comedy-drama will truly touch your heart - and according to IMDb, the tagline to this movie is: "The funniest movie ever to make you cry"

If you haven't seen Steel Magnolias before - no worries - you can watch the whole thing on YouTube!!! This movie is divided into 12 parts on YouTube - and you can click on them one at a time - here is the link to Part 1.

REQUIREMENT: Because Shelby is obsessed with Pink in this movie - we thought that our requirement this would be to add a touch of pink or a whole lot of pink to your creations!

Brooke's Card Inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias

Inspire by Shelby's signature color Pink, Pink and more Pink.... The little birds are a reminder of all the hard work Drum did to get the birds out of the trees for the reception and all the madness that created. Shelby's wedding colors are... Blush and Bashful(pink and pink).

Come to my blog for more Pink fun...

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE WOMEN OF THE WORLD!

Hugs
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias

I remember watching this movie a long time ago - and just laughing and crying - but somehow wathcing it this week as I gpt ready to make my card - I appreciated this movie at a whole different level . I think it is because this is the first time i wm re-watchign the movie after becoming a mother... and the experinece was totally different. I feel like I understood Sall Field's role sooo muc more - and the scnee with Julia Robetrts and her baby - when her husband comes home ( - that scnee just had me in tears - I can't imagine something like that - and it was hard for me to eath that - because I was thinking of my little wee ones... I adore adore Sally Field in this movie - she is such an inspiration - and her relationship with her daughter in this movie is so real, perfect and wonderful.

So it was that relationship that I wanted to honor with this sentiment and card:
(what is funny - is that Brooke and I used the same layout without even knowing it! talk about being on the same page!!!) :)

I love this sentiment - and I thought it so accurately describes the relationship between mother and daughter in the movie. The sentiment reads: You have been my inspiration, my confidante, my friend. Because of you, I've learned to love, to forgive and to live a life filled with purpose."
You can check out my blog for more details:

Wishing each of you a wonderful mother's day!
Hugs,
Sankari :)

Thank you to all who played along last week. We LOVED each one of your creations - you sure did an awesome supercalafragelistic job on your cards! Our Audrey goes to Jaimee's penguin card, which caught our attention - and we loved the stacked penguins and the sentiment was just spot on :)

We thought of changing it up a bit this week where the Audrey recipient from each week will be our guest designer for the next week!

So are you ready to play along!!?!!!

We sure hope you join us this week! All you have to do is to make a card or layout oraltered project that is inspired by the movie: Steel Magnolias. This week's requirement is to add some pink (a little or alot) to your card. The inspiration for your creations can be from the music, the characters, the dialogue, the costumes, etc.

All you have to do is to link yoru creation to our blog by commenting ont his post with a link to your direct post with your creation. You can add the direct link of your blog post to Mr. Linky - not your whole blog - because it makes finding your card int he future much easier. Kristina Werner has created a wonderful video showing how to do this.

Please link to our blog by this Thursday, May 14 by 9pm PST!

Can't wait to see your creations!!

Have a wonderful Mother Day!!!
big Hugs to All!!!!
Sankari and Brooke!
