Sneak Peeks, Audrey Winner and Cinema Inspired Creations

Good Morning Everyone :)))

Its Sankari here - Sorry for being MIA for so long dearest cinema family - between a long visit from my parents and a visit from my in-laws and then taking care of kids who were sick and then getting sick myself - I have had to take a mini vacation from blogland :( I think one of the worst things is to be sick when its so nice outside. But after a week of being on the couch and having some medication - I can feel the bounce back in my step :)

So sorry that we haven't posted our Audrey winners these last few weeks - so we wanted to post them up today. We went through all of the entries from Up, Oklahoma, North by Northwest this morning on the phone and it was so much fun to see all your fresh ideas and creative entries - but so hard to even pick one! Here are the cards that caught our attention:

#76 - North by Northwest - Barbara - we loved Barbara's take on the beginning of the movie and loved reading how it tied in with the movie :) What a cool card!
#75 - Oklahoma - Libby - we loved this fun way that Libby used gingham in her card and could imagine the scene where the girls were getting dressed! What a fun card!
#74 - UP! - Tomi Ann - we loved the different feel and the whimsy-ness of Tomi Ann's card - those balloons and fresh colors were so perfect with the kraft paper - very cool!

We hope that you will all join us next week as our guest designer! All of you who play along and comment just make our day! You guys are seriously amazing!!! And we hope you are enjoying creating these cinema cards :) they are always our favorite cards to make :))

So how about a movie peek from the wonderful Brooke :)) for tomorrow's movie!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #76 - North by Northwest

Welcome to our 76th cinema challenge, where this week's movie challenge is the 1959 Oscar nominated movie starring the smooth and debonair Cary Grant: North by Northwest. This adventure movie is filled with spy intrigue, romance, humor and Alfred Hitchcock genius! If you haven't seen it yet - you must - this is a classic movie - with one of the all time classic movie scenes with the crop dusting plane. This week's movie challenge is to add some paper piercing to your cards that are inspired by some aspect of the movie :) We hope you will play along with us!

Brooke's Card Inspired by the movie: North by Northwest
Are you ready for another Alfred Hitchcock... That usually mean a cat and mouse chase.. This time it's a 2,000 mile chase for Rodger Thornhill(Cary Grant). Rodger is taken mistaken for a CIA agent when he tries to make a phone call to his mother.. Rodger is kidnaped my a group of fugitives and then is forces to be part of a 2,000 mile chase. He is helped along the way by a lovely lady named Eve. He has a long journey via trains, cars, and plains.. He is even chased down by a crop duster in a corn field. This chase all ends up in the black hill of South Dakota at Mount Rush more.
When I was doing a little research I noticed in my picture file that a year ago was our last Alfred Hitchcock move.. It's been far to long...

I got my inspiration from the first thing that came to mind from memory (the crop duster scene) It has Cary Grant in it that's why I remember the scene. He is really Dreamy... It's been a long time sense I have seen this movie I was surprised how much I had forgotten about it. It was great to watch this movie again.. There are lost of elements to get inspiration in this movie.. Hope you have a great time watching this classic with the hunky Cary Grant... Ahhhhh!

hugs,
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: North by Northwest
I remember watching this movie while snuggling in between my mother and father and totally loving the Hitchcock suspense and thrill factor. After watching it now - I simply adore Cary Grant's smoothness - seriously - the man is some delicious eye candy :) (and even though George Clooney sometimes is known as a modern day Cary Grant - there is nothing like the original (that is not to say that if George Clooney walked in the door that I wouldn't faint :)). I love the way the movie starts and the journey that we are taken on is just awesome. I picked the sentiment: Enjoy the Journey - because I always feel like even in the craziest situations that Cary Grant is thrown into - he is still so smooth and makes you feel like its still okay :)
My card has bit more of a mod feel to it then I usually do - but I liked the simple lines and arrows and am excited to give it to my friend who is graduating next month (yay - a man card! :) Can't wait to see all of your wonderful creations and would love to hear your favorite part/lines from the movie!!!

Sending you all big big hugs!!!
Sankari :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #75 - Oklahoma

This week for our 75th (that's right, the big 75) we are featuring the 2 time Oscar winning movie from 1955 : Oklahoma. This week when you all sit down to create your Oklahoma master pieces try to incorporate a card that really reflects the movie.. You could make corn stocks as high as an Elephants Eye, Girls in Gingham dresses,Western cards. Use some of the catch phrases or song lyrics/titles to spring board off of. Don't focus on gingham as the theme of the card. Remember it's just a form of inspiration. Feel free to use a layout from another challenge.. We have found that our movie inspired cards have become some of our very favorites ever because we had really captured the spirit of the movie. Where else will you have the opportunity to make a card that is not focused on birthday's, thanks, friends etc.. For us this challenge is all about artistic expression an outlet that is just for us! A little me time if you will. Time away from preparing for workshops, meeting deadlines and getting back to the reason we got into paper crafting all together. We hope you all fine joy in our challenge. We are so glad you are all part of our lives.

Don't forget to check out WHO DID THE NEWEST REMAKE OF THIS MOVIE???
He is also dreamy.... HERE

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie ~ OKLAHOMA

Good morning everyone!

For this weeks card I was was inspired by the first and second verse of the song:

"Oh What a Beautiful Mornin' "

Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL MORNIN'
Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL DAY!
I've got a beautiful feelin'
Everything's goin' my way.

There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow
There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye
And it look like it's climbing clear up to the sky.

This movie always surprises me... Each time I watch this movie I am reminded by some of the greatest songs ever written.. You know those songs you grew up hearing your mother/grandmother singing. Maybe you were even luck to have grown up in the era of AMAZING musical wonder... I think I was meant to been born in a different era for music and dance.. But I defiantly don't want to be June Cleaver.. I have the most AMAZING husband that is very much a partner in all things... Plus I just can't see doing all the house work in heals.. I would be over 6 ft tall if I did.. LOL

Back to the movie... Shirly Jones is so adorable as Laurey. She has the most amazing waist line in yikes! She can sing and dance and really bring the character to life.. And Gordan McCray as Curly has the most Romantic voice... Swoon here

This little romantic western musical is a hoot.. Laurey and Curly have to fight to keep there relationship strong and also help Ado Annie from running of with the new peddler that just came to town... And she just "Cain't say NO" This song is so whinny it will crack you up.. I remember a classmate audition for a musical singing this song.. We all had a giggle over the song at the time.. Then you have the typical scene where all the girls are up in the bedroom getting ready for the dance etc and stressing over if the guy is going to like them or not... All around this is just one of those wonderful family movie ALL can watch together and make great memories together..

Hope ya'll enjoy the show now...
Have a Beautiful Day!

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie ~ OKLAHOMA
Hi Everyone, as you can see no card from me today. My parents have been visiting this week (they are leaving in a couple of days) and I haven't had much time to create this week. Their visit is so rare here and from early morning walks with my mom to late night talks with my parents and DH, I haven't had a chance to duck into my craft corner. My parents live so far off, and anytime with them is so precious - its simply been a wonderful week - not to mention that I think I must have gained 50lbs. from my mom's cooking this week... sheesh!
I can't wait to make a card for this movie - the songs always seem to get stuck in my head! I remember we did this musical in highschool. Musicals are just such fun generes - they incorporate so much of the theater :) Well, I can't wait to make a card for this one - stay tuned for one coming up soon :))) Also hope to get all the Audreys/Cinema Inspired Creations by tomorrow - sorry for my lack of togetherness this week :( I promise to be more on top of it next week :)
Hope you guys are doing fantastic!
Big hugs to all,
Sankari :)

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie ~ UP
What a sweet movie this is.... When shy Carl meet spunky Ellie he had now idea how much his life would change... It became the adventure of a life time.... From the first pinning of the "Ellie badge" Carl was part of a life long friendship. In the end the encouraging words Ellie wrote to Carl in the her Adventure book help him to change his life and reach out to change a life of another...
When Carl Lost the Love of his life he just couldn't move on. Carl decided to take his WHOLE house with him.. Little did he know that the little 8 year old wilderness scout Russell was a stowaway. These to are quite the odd couple on this little adventure.. Russell drives Carl nuts just my being his 8 year old self. They find a few little companion along the way.. Kevin a mother bird becomes their mission. The gang is trying to help Kevin back to her baby birds when her hunter shows up and just another adventure begins... To find our how this movie end you will just have to watch it... It's just a sweet reminder of how much we need others in our life....

I love this house and all the Love that was experienced in it made it a home... So not had to see where I got my inspiration from.

Join me here to see more about my inspiration.. HERE

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie "Up!"
I wasn't sure if my wee son (5 years old) could watch this movie when he got it as a bday gift since there were some things that might have scared him (like the pack of dogs and the chase scene at the end) - but surprisingly, when he loved every single second of it because of this spirit of adventure. He keeps asking me if we can get so many balloons and do that to our house! He LOVES the little boy Russell and he LOVE Carl the bird (he will try to squawk like him once in awhile :). When I was making the challenge banner for this movie - my son was sitting next to me and was so excited as to what card I was going to make - so I made this card for him - in the spirit of adventure
I love this sentiment by Dr. Seus! And I loved making this card with all the ballooons carrying the house, just like he wanted :)
Please check out my blog: for more details!
Can't wait to see your beautiful creations!!
Big hugs,
Sankari :)
Maureen's Card Inspired by the movie "Up!"
Wow!! What a fantastic movie {insert huge smile here!}. I actually got to watch this one and am so glad I did. It was out at my local video store, but my bonus son (my term for stepson!) had his own copy and dropped it off :) It was so delightful and sad at the same time...literally the only animated movie that ever made me cry!! This movie has everything!! The part where Russell tries to climb the rope up to the house had my dh in stitches....I've never seen him laugh so loud and deep....then he said he kept laughing because he was laughing so hard (does that make sense? LOL). I love how Carl changes in the movie and realizes what really matters in life....such a beautiful story :)

My card is all about that change and reaching one's dream. I felt this sentiment from Verve fit perfectly with the theme of the movie. I hope you all can play this week...and if you haven't seen the movie...you really need to...it will make you smile (and cry and laugh till it hurts!!). Thanks, Sankari and Brooke, for inviting me to join you this week. It's always an honour :)

Thank you so much Maureen for being our guest designer! What a beautiful balloon and that sentiment is just perfect to describe the theme of this movie! You can visit Maureen's beauitful blog for more details here: Buttons & Bling

Shaz's Card Inspired by the movie "Up!"
The movie up is about an old Man who wants to live out his dream of seeing South America's wildlife. He does this by attaching a Gazzilloin balloons to his house, UP, and away he goes!

I created this card with a gazzilion balloon and the quote " Adventure is out there!" from the movie. To choose the colors I used the bird Carl meets in South America as inspiration.

Thank you so much Shaz for being our guest designer! We love your bright and beautiful card and that sentiment is just perfect! To check out more details - check out Shaz's awesome blog: The Kraft Nook!

Carol's Card Inspired by the movie "Up!
While I think Pixar make good movies, the premise of this one had me a little dubious (it just didn’t sound as fun as toys or monsters), so I was pleasantly surprised when I did get to see UP! If you are ever around me and my girls you may hear random “Squirrel!” comments, heh heh heh. Anyway, when I found out what movie I would be designing for the basic idea for the card was in my head straight away.

I did struggle with the sentiment though… I had a few stamps that were appropriate for the movie (inspired by Ellie’s passion for life) but I just didn’t feel they were right for the card. I decided to print out the “Adventure is out there!” catch-phrase because it can bring together the idea of grand and simple adventures of life.

Thank you so much Carl for being our guest designer! That little boy is just so cute and has Russell's charm! What a great idea to do the sentiment in the cloud! You can visit Carol''s gorgeous blog for more details here:Inkantations & Incarnations for more details!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #73- Sense and Sensibility

Welcome Everyone to our 73rd movie challenge where this week we are featuring the movie Sense and Sensibility which was nominated for 7 Oscars and won for best screenplay adaptation by Emma Thompson, who also acts as Elinor Dashwood in the movie. This movie is simply a beautiful love story, not just of romance, but also the love of family and the love of sisterhood. If you haven't seen this movie yet, and you also love Jane Austen and period movies - you will absolutely love this movie!!! The challenge requirement for this movie is to create a CAS card (which stands for clean and simple because this movie has tones that are muted and simple and elegant lines - so have fun creating a card that is simple and clean and is inspired by the themes in this movie!! You can watch the trailer for the movie here:

And you can also watch it on Youtube in 14 different parts, just click on this link and it will lead you to the rest of the movie. We hope you enjoy this movie and the challenge requirement to make a CAS card which can be however you feel your creation is clean and simple and is Inspired by the movie! Here are our cards inspired by this movie:

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie: Sense and Sensibility

Ok those of you who know me know I LOVE period movies.... So I was over the moon to make a card about Sense and Sensibility. In this movie I probably relate to a mix of Elinor and Marianne Dashwood.. I was the oldest of 4 girls, always did the right thing and was reliable and dependable I even had a few little trinkets that I would hold onto that belonged to one or two somebody's special.. But as I get older I find I have the same qualities but with the spunk on Marianne.. It just comes with age I guess..

I {HEART} the costume of this time period... The colors and wall papers are simple but elegant as well. When I saw this pattern paper I new it would be a perfect match for color and design.. I then though I needed a simple but elegant ribbon to represent some of the activities like hat haberdashery(hat making) and needle work ladies would do all day if they were privileged. Finished by a simple but elegant button that might be found on there clothing or shoes.

Don't forget to stop by and leave me some love.. I have a little surprise about some of the actors in this movie you might like to know about..

Hope you enjoy one of my all time favorite movies...

Hugs,
Brooke

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie: Sense and Sensibility
I don't know how many times I have watched this movie - it must be over 50 times - its just beautiful to watch it again and again. I love this version with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant the best. My card was inspired by the dresses that Elinor wore - I love the dark rich blues and muted earth tones that she wore and I was imagining the flower as something that they would wear in their hats.. The sentiment reads: "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides" and is inspired by the scene where Edward declares his love for Elinor and the love that they both have felt for each other but have had to hide in their hearts due to different circumstances - finally has a chance to shine through - it is such a sweet moment and Emma Thompson's acting is so real in that moment - I get a wee bit teary eyed every time :) sigh...
I simply adore this movie, it just has so many sweet little love stories within it and I loved Alan Rickman as Col. Brandon - and the way he cares for Marianne just always touches my heart. I hope you will play along with us to this beautiful movie!
You can check out more details on my blog :)
Big hugs,
Sankari

Happy Friday Everyone!

Hope you had a great week and didn't have too many pranks played on you for April Fool's yesterday! I am sorry to not have invited Mr.Linky to join us this week - I had to take a bit of a break from blogging this week as it was Spring Break for my kids and I took being "internet-less" for a wee bit as a sign to take a tiny blogging break :) I put up Mr. Linky and added all of your fantastic creations to it and it was pure delight this morning to read all of your sweet comments, see your gorgeous projects and creations!!!

Thank you all for playing along with us - you made us so hungry with your delectable creations! It was so much fun to hop around and see your "Julie & Julia" inspired creations. Please check out these Cinema Inspired Creations below:
This week Maureen caught our attention with this beautiful recipe card! It is just so sweet and
lovely! I hope that you will check out her blog for more details of this sweet card! What a great idea on how to use recipe cards!
And no, you are not seeing double! I didn't have time to post the Audrey from last week, which goes to Carol for using the dress that Jennifer Garner had on in the movie "13 going on 30" for her card!.
It is such a clever idea loved the use of color and use of the geometric shapes :) Hannah's leg warmer card was so sweet, we loved Kathy's
"dream big" card and Shaz'sbirthday card inspired by the ads
Jennifer Garner created. We loved peeking at all of your fantastic fun creations of the 80's and loved the retro look (I somehow feel suddenly old to think that the 80's is all of the sudden a retro look!!! what?!) We can't even thank you enough for playing along with us each week and creating with us on this movie inspired card adventure :))) You guys are just the best!!!
