Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #25 - Goldfinger

First of all - Thank you to all of you who come to our blog and guess with us on Friday nights for the sneak peeks, who play along with us, who comment and everything else in between! You all have become like a little mini blog family and we are truly truly truly grateful to all of YOU!!! So as a special little treat - we have included a little blog candy with this challenge!

Welcome to our 25th Challenge at Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! We are so excited to have done 25 challenges and wanted to do something fun and action packed --- what could be better suited than than a classic James Bond movie... the 1964 classic movie Goldfinger. Did you know that Goldfinger won an Oscar for Best Effects and Sound!

In many different sites - Goldfinger always appears at the top of the Best James Bond movies. Here is a quote from IGNmovies.com that has Goldfinger as number one out of 20 Bond movies. "Although not the first Bond film, Goldfinger was the model from which all subsequent Bond movies have been based. The first 007 film to make use of elaborate gadgets (most notably 007's tricked-out Aston Martin)...Goldfinger has everything any Bond fan or casual viewer would expect from a 007 movie experience." This book is based upon Ian Flemming's novel. He passed away before the end of production but was satisfied with how the movie was progressing and thought Connery was the perfect Bond. And interestingly enough, Pierce Brosnon was 12 years old when he saw Goldfinger, which was his inspiration to become an actor and play a part in a spy thriller ... only to later play Bond himself... Bond, James Bond :)

The requirement this week... well.... it had to be to add some gold to your card! Either a little or a lot.... go for gold!

This is a great site to find more info on James Bond, as is this site.

Brooke's Card inspired by the movie: Goldfinger

Brooke is away this weekend at a recital for her daughter - but she has left us with some great links where you can learn more information about the origins of Bond.

"James Bond is probably one of the most famous and longest running characters in film history. Since his first appearance in Dr. No (1962) the Queen’s number one spy has travelled to more places, romanced more women, escaped from more dangerous situations and saved the world more times than any other secret agent in history. After the war he entered the British Secret Intelligence Service, known as MI6, where he became a “double-0” agent with a license to kill. His assignments have taken him to volcanic islands, India, Las Vegas and even a space station in orbit. He has charm, loves beautiful women, and likes martin is - shaken, not stirred-, fine suits and fast cars. Most of Bond’s missions bring him into contact with shadowy figures of the underworld.

Fleming was born in 1908 into a wealthy Scottish family. His grandfather was a banker who, after his death, left Ian’s family a fortune. After going to school at Eton he attended the military academy at Sandhurst, but he didn’t like it there and left without becoming an officer. He continued his education in the Austrian town of Kitzbühel , where nobody his real identity. After coming back to Britain Fleming got a job as a journalist with the news agency Reuters and then went into banking. Both jobs did not please him very much, so in May 1939 he started working for the Foreign Office. There he became the assistant of one of Britain’s top spymasters. During the last year of the war Fleming travelled to Jamaica to a naval conference. He fell in love with the island and built himself a house, which he called Goldeneye. For six years he travelled back and forth from Britain to Jamaica, where he spent the winter, met lovely women, and enjoyed the sunset. He quit the Foreign Office and turned to writing. He spent his time developing the Bond character and leading the life that he desired. In the late 1950s Fleming started to suffer from bad health, probably because he was a heavy drinker and smoker. He died in 1964."

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie Goldfinger

It was so much fun to pick a James Bond movie for this week's Cinema Challenge - can I just tell you that I have the song Goldfinger totally stuck in my head now.... (randomly all last night, I would just start singing... Gold..fing-ah.... LOL!) I have to say Connery is definitely a Bond... no one can pull off that terrycloth bathing jumper (from the scene when he was in Miami) than Connery... seriously...!

There were sooo many different things that I wanted to do with this card -- but all my inspiration kept coming back to the opening and so I based my card on that opening shot.... this is a little birthday card for a special friend of mine (whom shall not be named... but whose name starts with B and ends with E and rhymes with cook :)

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #24 - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Welcome everyone to our 24th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge!!! We hope you enjoy this movie selection: Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (or Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory). This is such a visually stunning movie (both of them) and there is just SO much inspiration to grab on to!!! This movie was made popular by the 1971 version with Gene Wilder and then again was redone in 2005 with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. Did you know that according to IMDb the " grand total of all the fake chocolate used on stage was 244,993.98 US gallons (927,403.1 litres)." during the filming of the 2005 movie? That is a lot of fake chocoalte!

The movie is based on a book by Roald Dahl. According to Wikipedia Dahl "got the idea he got for the story was "What if there was a factory that shipped out marvelous things... and there was a crazy guy running it all." Both movies are just full of visual magnificence - and of course a lot of chocolate!
**********
We thought that we would celelbrate this movie by making the requirement this be to have Bright Colors in your cards!!! You can do a little or you can go all out - but just use bright colors somewhere!

**********
I saw the Gene Wilder version a long time ago and was excited for the Johnny Depp version because I adore/am in love/admire/ Johnny Depp - he has always been my biggest crush since I was 12.... sigh! (eyes go dreamy....) and when I saw the new version - I have to say that it was so different from the original that I wasn't sure about it - but the second time I saw it - all I could see was the genius of Tim Burton - he is just simply AMAZING!! He takes you into a whole other world of imagination - and the way the movie was shot - the colors - the chocolate!!! OMG!!!

I love the song Pure Imagination in the Gene Wilder song - you can watch it here. And so I thought I would go a little whimsy and create something kind of fun.... I stamped the sentiment "Sail into your imagination" inspired by this song... and all the quilling kind of represent all the candy and swirly patterns in the movie.
I love love love bright colors (as is the requirement for this week) - but wanted to keep it understated so I used a lot of white. For more details check out my blog (also you can see the card that my son made inspired by Willy Wonka :)

Hope you play along this week!!
Hugs to all,
Sankari :)

Brooke's Card~

When I went to Scrapbook USA this weekend I really wanted to find something new to play with that inspired me to create a card from this move. I loved this "Fancy Pants" rub on's" they are so lively and colorful they look like Fruit- roll-ups or life savors rolled out ready to like. I also loved the sentiment. I really love my sweetie pie and don't know what I would do with him. He is so much help and support to me I just wanted to give him a little sweet love note.  If you want to see my second card  jump over to my blog and have a look.

Hugs and sugar kisses

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #23 "Waking Ned Devine"

First of all I would like to wish Brooke and her Dear Husband a Happy 18th anniversary tomorrow!! YAY!!!  They are such a cutie couple who just inspire me with their love for each other - Happy Anniversary you guys!!!!
Top of the Morning to ya!!! With St. Patty's right around the corner (Tuesday, March 17th), we wanted to do a fun a little Irish movie - and we were so excited to pick the fun comedy released in 1998: Waking Ned Devine This movie won 7 awards and 9 nominations and is definitely a sweet and fun comdey - A quick simple plot summary from Wikipedia reads: " When word reaches Jackie O'Shea (Bannen) and Michael O'Sullivan (Kelly), two elderly best friends, that someone in their tiny Irish village of Tulaigh Mhór (Tullymore) has won the Irish National Lottery's Lotto game, they go to great lengths to find the winner so they can share the wealth.
So you have never seen the movie? No worries!!! Brooke found a link on Hulu.com where you can watch the whole movie for free in the comfort of your own home... of your own house!! yay!
****** We thought that a fun required element for this week would be to go green!
Add a little green to your card - or a whole lot of green --- which ever you would like...Just have fun!!!! **********

Brooke Card Inspired by the movie: Waking Ned Devine~

Ok girls! I totally had so much fun making this card. Wouldn't you totally love getting an invitation to a game night with friends like this. You totally have to plan an amazing night of fun after giving a card that says FUN!  I know this card doesn't say lottery but I think winning the Jackpot is kinda the same idea. We are a family that really LOVES to play games. I think I might even make these invitation for my kids to invite them to a game night at our own house just let them know we think they are COOL and we are excited hang out with them.  I  check netflicks.com to see if they had this movie on instant download and no luck. I tried Youtube, No luck. I struck the jackpot with Hulu.com though. Here is the link if you would like to view this movie with out even leaving your homes.

Full length film

I am going to try to make another card this week that might look a little more like the movie. But if not. I hope you enjoy creating a WINNER!

Sankari's Card for Brooke & Regan inspired by Waking Ned Devine

First of all, I just LOVE this movie (and I canNOT believe that it was released almost 11 years ago? where did the time fly?) I love the comedy in this movie and just love the town coming togeher... also love the little love story too... I have to admit that I had a slight crush on James Nesbitt :) I love it at the end when they toast to Ned ... what an amazing amazing shot!!!! I hope all of you have a chance to see this movie - sooo thrilled that Brooke found it on Hulu!! (And if you haven't heard of hulu.com --- you have to check it out - what an awesome site!!! And second of all, I LOVE green -- its my favorite color, so I decided to go almost all green!

Well - my card is an anniversary card for my dear friend Brooke and her husband Regan, whose anniversary is tomorrow!! YAY!!!

Congrats on 18 you guys! I have been meaning to make a card all week and mail it out to them... but that just did not happen... in trying to figure out a card for this movie - I had an aha! moment... to make a card using the lottery theme!! So I used the date from their wedding to kind of look like lottery numbers/ coin slot machine and then stamped the sentiment: lucky day underneath. The inside of the card is also decorated with the same color motif and also I stamped the sentiment Happy Anniversary

Brooke and her husband are just soooo cute!! I have so enjoyed getting to talk to both of them on the phone - Reagan has the best hellos! He always makes me feel so welcome and always cracks me up too! He simply adores Brooke, I remember I called one time when they were getting ready to go out and Brooke was getting dressed... and Reagan said something like.. She is putting on her make up, although she doesn't need any - she is just perfect as she is..... awwww!!! And you all know how much I adore Brooke - she is just the sweetest!!! They are just soooo cute together on the phone and I can't wait to meet both of them someday soon!!!  Happy Anniversary you two love birds!!!

You can check out my blog for more details!

Sneak Peek #23 Photo Reveal

This is a shot of Ms Kennedy who works at the post office on the small Island. In the beginning of the show they were trying to decide how they would cash the check from Ned's winnings and they had to come to the conclusion that Ms Kennedy probably couldn't cash a multi Million dollar check.. Problem was Ned didn't even have a checking account... How are they ever going to cash the check now.. You will all have to watch the show to find out.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #22 - Singing in the Rain

Good Morning Everyone,

First of all, we wanted to apologize for not having the Audrey ready this week - we both have been swamped running around and are excited for the weekend to go through all your fabulous entries and post the Audrey - so stay tuned!

And secondly: Are you all experiencign any spring weather yet? If not, don't despair, here is an absolute fun-tabulous movie that will totally put the spring in your steps and have you dancing in no time. We are so happy to feature the movie Singing in the Rain as this week's movie choice! This movie has been ranked as the fifth greatest American Film by the AFI (American Film Institute). It is a musical that was released in 1952, with the legendary Gene Kelley, Debbie Reyonlds and Donald O'Connor. This movie is set back in the day when silent movies were the norm and talking pictures were just emerging on the scene.

The dance moves and tap steps in this movie are just delightful!!! Here is some interesting trivia from IMdB - did you know that Gene Kelly had a 103 degree fever when he danced to the song Singing in the Rain? He insited upon one take - and that was all that it took! The milk in the rain scene was a mix of water and milk - so that it would show up better on the screen (although it caused Gene Kelly's wool coat to shrink in the process! You can read more of these trivia points here - and if you haven't seen this movie yet - the mastery, the spunk, the dance - is a complete delight - and is sure to bring a smile to your faces!!!

This week's requirement is to add something related to water to your card - this can be from Crystal Effects, to an acetate card, to anything that shows some water-ish element to the card.

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie Singing in the Rain:
I absolutely love this movie - I had a smile watching this movie almost the whole time - I just loved the sweetnesss and was floored by the dance mastery of Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor - WOW! They make it look so easy and effortless.
My favorite song is the last one entitled "Lucky Star" - one of the lines from this song reads:"You are my lucky Star" So that is what I used as my starting point for the card. You can WATCH the song right here. I just loved the sweetness and softness of this song - and so I made a card inspired by this song - but used the colors in the title dance song Singing in the Rain.

My daughter was not feeling well last night - and I don't think I slept more than an hour... I stole away this morning to make my card -- and interestingly enough - it had been raining - can you see the drops on the window? It totally made me want to go out and sing in the rain - except that its freezing :)
You can check out my blog for more details.
Hugs,
Sankari

Brooke's Card~

I was inspired by the Title Song "Singing in the Rain" This was a favorite song of my Grandmothers so she would sing it to us when we were little. We also got to listen to her music box with the song on it. I choose to use three elements of water on my card this week. I used the Window sheet for a floating quality of water, the rain drops reflected in the dew drops on the card and the crystal effect to make the umbrella have a wet and shinned look. I have love becoming familiar with all the other songs from the movie.. I think the coolest thing about creating to the classics is finding out where all theses amaging song we all have grown up with really started out. Come over to my blog and see lots of other pictures of the card front back etc.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks movie and jump in and get your feet wet.
Hugs
Brooke
