Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #35 - Some Like it Hot!

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome to our 35th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - where today, we are featuring the 1959 Oscar winning movie: Some Like it Hot, with our Audrey recipient Elana, who received the Audrey for the movie: Ever After. This movie: Some Like it Hot won an Oscar for best costume design and won 10 other nominations. This comedy between Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis has the tagline: "When two musicians witness a mob hit, they flee the state in an all female band disguised as women, but further complications set in." This movie was voted #1 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Funniest Movies!! Wow! Number 1! Well, we couldn't wait to feature a number one movie! If you haven't seen this movie - your local library store might have it. And if you can't find it, you can find snippets of the song and movie on Youtube. We hope that you have a chance to see this movie and see these legendary actors shake it up!'

The Challenge Requirement for this week:

Is to add either lace or ruffles in your creation - and if you want - you can add both the elements in your card! These elements are on some of the costumes in the movie so we thought it would be fun to add them to our creations :) We all used elements of black, red and white in our card - but that is just coincidence - the challenge is not a color one :)

Brooke's Card inspired by: "Some Like It Hot"

A little LOVE card for one who I want to be loved by for EVER!

Music is a way to my soul... And Music is a huge part of this movie.. I wanted to use the music from this movie start my inspiration. I looked on line for free sheet music. Then read through them.. I loved the lyrics in "I want to be loved by you". Don't we all just want to be LOVED! When we have the love and support from our loved ones life is just more magical.

Sugar: [singing] I wanna be loved by you, just you, nobody else but you. I wanna be loved by you alo-o-one. Boop boop e doo.

One of my favorite this about researching the movies we are presenting is finding out were all my favorite music came from originally...

Cool vote for this movie:
  • In 2007, the America Film Institute ranked this as the #22 Greatest Movie of All Time.
  • The movie's line "Well, nobody's perfect." was voted as the #48 movie quote by the American Film Institute (out of 100).
  • Voted #1 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Funniest Movies.
  • Voted #14 on the AFI's List of 100 Greatest Movies.

Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis are so funny in this movie.. They are both comedy legends. They don't make very cute girls though...

Check out my blog for details..

Hugs
Brooke

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Some Like it Hot:

Well, I have to say that I was at a little loss where to start creating a card from this movie! It was a challenge for me to find a starting point - so I started by watching one of my fave scenes - Jack Lemmon disguised as a woman Daphen, dancing the tango with Super Millionaire:L Osgood Fielding the third! It cracked me up how into Daphen (aka Jack lemmon he was) and how in the first part of her tango with him s/he wasn't really into it and kept "leading" him - but by the end - s/he was totally tangoing it up! I just thought his character was hilarious in the movie - especially that s/he Daphne is really into being engaged... ha! Lemmon is hilarious comic actor.

I made this card using the sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet and created the sentiment: Care to Tango? I loved expressions on Jack Lemmon's face throughout the dance - you can watch clip of the dance on YouTube especially when they switch roses in the mouth. You can check out more details on my blog :)

Hugs to All,
Sankari :)

Guest Designer for this Week: Elana, who received her Audrey for the Movie Ever After with this beautiful card! Thank you Elana for being our guest designer this week! Your creation is simply beautiful!

Elana's Card Inspired by the movie: Some Like it Hot:

My inspirational blurb is this: "This was a funny movie that I had never seen and it was definitely a challenge! For this card, I was inspired by the black and white, the gender-bending comedy, and the element of disguise in the movie. I chose to do a black and white main card with pops of red (I just imagine Marilyn Monroe in red! :). I made the background black with a masculine pinstripe detail and then added my feminine ruffle in red at the bottom, reminiscent of a skirt. Then because I wanted to echo the surprise element found under the skirts of Joe and Jerry in the movie, instead of opening normally, this card has a hidden slider and the message comes out from beneath the ruffle. I went with a wedding theme because there is lots of talk of that in the movie! Visit my blog for more info and supplies."

Last week's movie was the suave and charming movie: Ocean's 11. A big welcome to all of our new players and a big hello to all our returning players - thanks to everyone who played - we really enjoyed going through everyone's beautiful entries! One creation that totally caught our attention this week is Amy's awesome family album inspired by the colors from the CD from Ocean's 11! I love that the Ocean's crew are kind of like a family and fight and make up like siblings :) Awesome creation Amy and thank you for the mini tutorial!!!
We hope that you will display your Audrey on the sidebar and that can join us next week as our Guest Designer!

Don't forget that if you play along with us for creating a creation for this movie
(SOME LIKE IT HOT) - that you can be entered to be a guest designer
for next week's challenge:

So are you ready to play along!!?!!!

We sure hope you join us this week! All you have to do is to make a card or layout or altered project that is inspired by the movie: Some Like it Hot. The inspiration for your creations can be from the music, the characters, the dialogue, the costumes, etc. This week's requirement is to add some ruffles or lace (or both if you want!!) to your card.

All you have to do is to link your creation to our blog by commenting on this post with a link to your direct post with your creation. You can add the direct link of your
blog post to Mr. Linky - not your whole blog - because it makes finding your card int he future much easier. Kristina Werner has created a wonderful video showing how to do this.

Please link to our blog by this Thursday, June 11th by 9pm PST!

Can't wait to see your creations!!

big Hugs to All!!!!
Sankari and Brooke!

PS - NEXT WEEK: we have some YUMMY blog candy! And A special Guest Designer who will be joining us for our movie challenge next week who we both totally admire and are inspired by!!! It's going to be fun! So after creating your Some Like It Hot creations - don't forget to stop in Next week to see what we have going on!!!

This was fun -I had so many ideas going into it! I'm not so sure that I'll be ruffling ribbon again anytime soon! :)
I too ended up going with a red, black, and white theme too -it just seems to go with the flick!
