Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #36 - Beauty and the Beast

Welcome Everyone to our 36th Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge! WOW! Has it been 36 already?! Today we are so excited to feature the Oscar winning movie by Disney: Beauty and the Beast! In case you were wondering how the black and white sneak peeks could even be related to this movie - well - Brooke black/whited them - otherwise we KNOW you would have gotten it right away!!!

We also are so happy to have 2 awesome Guest Designers today!! Amy joins us this week for her awesome Ocean's 11 creation that she created for the Cinema challenge #34: Oceans 11! And we are SO honored and excited to welcome Julee Tillman from Poetic Artistry and the creator of the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and the creator and owner of the Verve stamp company- We simply adore Julee's stamps, her awesome sketches, her amazing creations and her inspirational style!!! Julee is beyond generous! She is offering a $30.00 gift certificate to her store for the Audrey recipient of this week's challenge!!! Thank you so much Julee!

So for this week's challenge - the only requirement is that your "Beauty and the Beast" creation have a fairytale theme! It can be anything that inspires you from this movie that has a fairytale- esque theme!! Hope you have a lot of fun creating your cards as much as we did!

This movie hit the big screen 22 November 1991, the year we were married -so we thought it would be fun to take our niece. Her mom told us this was the first movie she had ever seen. She was only 2 years old. She did amazing. Better tha n our kids have ever done at the movies. I think the musical number "Be Our Guest" was the biggest show tune number ever done. What magic that was... Who knew that silverware and dishes were so musical? A few years ago we saw the broadway version at the Tuacahn Theater here in Utah.. This is a outdoor theater that looks onto the "redrocks" of the desert. The best thing about having it outside....they get to use live animals, like horse drawn carriages and ride on horses.. Their stage incorporates the mountain side so you get to see them entering into the scene on horses. The heat was insane that night when we finished watching the production it was still over 100F at 10:30 p.m. The poor guy had to wear the beast outfit!! We peeked over the stage on a break and he had the top of the costume off and was sweating buckets... The other great part about outside was they used real fireworks in the production... REALLY COOL.... My DS just watched "Footloose" at the Tuacahn last night.. Kinda funny because it was originally filmed here in Utah and the Flour mill is just down few miles away. For my card I knew I didn't want to make a cartoon image.. I always had a rose and this image in mind.. I also thought it would be fun to incorporate Julee's Mojo monday sketch as well. This is also a dedication to my favorite in-color that is leaving the end of June from the current Stampin' Up catalog... I {Heart} you Riding Hood Red}
Have fun and good luck winning the Blogs Candy!
Hugs
Brooke

I remember reading the story of Beauty and the Beast long long ago in a far away land of childhood - and seeing it acted out in my mind's eye. So I was so happy when the movie came out (definitely a different take then the book) but so beautiful - and after watching this movie countless times - I totally knew each of the songs by heart! I love the Gaston song, the Be Our Guest song - but especially the song: Tale as Old as Time - sigh - love that song! I think that my favorite lyrics of the song are: " Ever just the same, Ever a surprise, Ever as before, Ever just as sure, As the sun will rise...." Aren't those lyrics just lovely!?
I love the last scene where Belle pulls him up over the castle wall - and as they both realize their love for each other and - so here is my castle wall, the yellow ribbon is for Belle's ball gown dress - and there is a little quilled rose on the sentiment symbolic of the Beast's learning to love and be loved. I used Julee's beautiful stamp set: Fairytales and her Mojo Sketch week 70 from January. I had so much fun making this card.

"Being 30-something, I didn't see this movie as a child, but my oldest daughter went through the disney stage and yes we own the DVD. I do love musicals and this movie came rushing back into my head with images of the enchanted rose. That and humming "be our guest" each week time I have set the table this week."

"Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite movies of all time. I realized while watching it last night that I can still recite the ENTIRE movie word for word - that's how many times I've seen it! In fact, my original video tape had a little glitch in the part where Beast growls "You wanna stay in the dungeon?" and it always said you wanna wanna stay. So imagine my surprise when I was watching the DVD version the first time last night and it didn't have that little you wanna wanna in it! LOL Okay, on with my inspiration. There's so much I love about this movie, Belle's soft yellow dress, the parisian decor and of course, my favorite character... Lumiere! I added little hints of all of these things to my card. A fabulous lantern image from Inkadinkado, some parisian-esque papers from the Everafter collection by Cosmo Cricket and a single rose like the one that's so pivotal to the story line. I had a blast "researching" and making a card for this challenge and just want to say thanks to Sankari and Brooke for inviting me to play along this week!"

One creation that caught our eye was Carol's lolli-art - the colors were a beautiful Marilyn pink, grey and the ruffles was simply fabulous! Thanks so much Carol for playing along and we hope that you can join use next week as our Guest Designer! A big thanks and hugs to all those who played along!!!

Don't forget that if you play along with us for creating
a creation for this movie
(BEAUTY AND THE BEAST)
that you can be entered to be a guest designer
for next week's challenge:

So are you ready to play along!!?!!!

We sure hope you join us this week! All you have to do is to make a card or layout or altered project that is inspired by the movie: Beauty and the Beast. The inspiration for your creations can be from the music, the characters, the dialogue, the costumes, etc. This week's requirement is to create a card, etc. with a fairytale theme to it!! Have fun!

All you have to do is to link your creation to our blog by commenting on this post with a link to your direct post with your creation. You can add the direct link of your
blog post to Mr. Linky - not your whole blog - because it makes finding your card int he future much easier. Kristina Werner has created a wonderful video showing how to do this.
