Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #48 - School of Rock

Good Morning Everyone!! Today we are excited to feature the 2003 movie: School of Rock! In this movie, Jack Black pretends to be a substitute teacher and discovers muscial talents in his class = to whom he teaches the classics of rock. We thought that this would be a fun movie to do as we all transition into going to school, teaching at school or sending our loved ones off to school!

The challenge requirement this week is picked out by our guest designer Maureen - who joins us this week after her card was picked for the Audrey from the Field of Dreams movie (#46) challenge. Maureen challenges us to use some cork in our creation! What a fun Challenge Requirement

Brooke's Project Inspired by the movie: School of Rock

ROCK ON!! I love this movie ladies.. I just bought this movie for $5.00 a month or 2 ago... My teens love this movie as well.. I know I went with the obvious and made a bulletin board.. but I couldn't resist.. I geared it toward a teen girl... I used the cutest stamp set form Stampin up called. "Friends Rock" and I have to agree what would school or life be with out friends to get you through..

When I was a young girl I got a letter "B" cork board for my "B"-day... I loved that thing... I was a little tricky to hand anything on so I just hung it as is.. I don't think I got rid of it until I was like 25... I would love to put it in my craft room know dag nab it... One of my favorite parts of the movie is when the shy little nerds discover that they really ROCK! It's always soooo fun to watch people come out of there little hiding place and find there inner strengths.

I hope you all have a great time with this challenge it was a lot of fun creating with this movie and CORK! Thanks Maureen for a great inspiration starter...

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie: School of Rock

I love Brooke's bulletin board and Maureen's wonderful simply fabulous creation. She inspired me to use another sentiment from the same stamp set for my card. This sentiment " Dare to be Different" really stood out to be - because he was taking these kids from the prep school who were straight and proper and giving them a chance to let their inner rock star shine. I remember watching this movie when it came out - and thought how cute the kids were - adorable! I love that he inspired them to think outside the box. And that even though the kids might be learning how to play the classics perfectly - they still had to make it their own - their own interpretation - their own way to rock it out! Based on that I created this card :

I had so much fun making it - and was totally excited to try some cork!!!

Our Guest Designer this week is Maureen, here is her creation inspired by the movie: School of Rock:

When I heard the name of this week's movie, I had to smile. I'm a teacher and about to head back to work next week. I've actually been setting up my class this week, but the student's don't come till next Tuesday. I've seen this movie several times as my son gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago. I watched it again this week to help get the creative juices flowing...I even took notes! What a good student I am, eh? ;) A few of my favourite parts were when Jack Black stage dives at the very beginning and no one catches him; when he holds up 3 fingers and says, "Read between the lines;" when he teaches the keyboard student the special handshake and when he sings the ticked off song and kicks the desk over at the end....I laughed so hard (again!). The requirement this week was to use cork, but I didn't want to use it as a bulletin board so I made a flower :) I stamped a musical background onto note paper and used my binder edge punch to create a notebook effect. Of course, you need a blackboard to write a special message. I chose this sentiment because in the movie the student who was in charge of the costumes said his ideas were "fabulous." A little library clip was the last detail :) I had so much fun making this card...it's going to a good teacher friend of mine who is going back full time after being off on maternity leave...I think she's fabulous!! Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #47 - Forrest Gump

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Welcome to our 47th Cinema challenge!!! We are getting close to our 50th challenge complete with yummy blog candy and a special and wonderful designer! But first the movie this week is the 1994 Oscar winning movies: Forrest Gump! (Nancy - you totattly guessed right!) This movie won 6 Oscars (including: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director among othesrs and won 32 other awards! Amazing! The tagline for this movie is: the story of a lifetime - and what an beautiful story it is and such wonderful acting. If you haven't seen this movie yet - its a definite must! The sweet innocence of Forrest in a time that is not so innocent is simply inspiring....!

This week's challenge requirement is to use some brown in your creation - it could be brads, ribbons, cardstock, ink - anything brown (a lot or a little!)!!!

Sankari's Card inspired by Forrest Gump:

There were so many different cards I wanted to do - but finally I settled on making a card of the relationship between Jenny and Forrest. His steady love for her and absolute devotion to her from the very beginning to the end is simply heart warming - and also when she starts to really the see the person who he is and also when she realizes that she has to wrap up some threads in her life - well - that part always gets me teary (the part towards the very end of the movie.... sigh - I can't write more because I am getting teary eyed already). So for my card - I chose this dialogue between Jenny and Forrest:

Jenny: Why are you so god to me?

Forrest: You're my girl!

Jenny: (pause) I'll always be your girl.

I loved the process of watching this movie again and feeling like there were so many different kinds of cards that I wanted to make - but I really felt as soon as I heard those lines - I wanted to make that card :) For more details on this card - please check out my blog! Our guest designer this week is Karli of Crafting with Class who wowed us for the movie challenge: Sixteen Candles with her cake in the box! This week she has created an awesome card that is a box of chocolates!

"Looking at the challenge details - using brown and thninkingof this movie and the famous tag lines as inspiration, there could only be one thing to do- a box of chocolates! Actually....a box of chocolatescard!! The box of chocolates lifts to reveal the card underneath! So super chocolatey quick!!!

Better Late than never...

Soooo Confession I have had this card finished and ready for some time now... But every time I would go to work on the computer it would loose connection(we switched servers)... And I had a massive migraine.. So I didn't have the patience with the computer...

Inspired by Bubba Gump Shrimp... mmmmm.

When I started this card we hadn't decided on the challenge requirement.. When I was finished I thought what was the requirement?? Help!!! So When I got back to take a picture of the card.. and knew the challenge requirement I thought how can I add in the color brown... I know I will burn the edged of the card. It's a B.B.Q. after all...

This movie just kills me. Forrest is such a devoted and loving person... What a great example to us all...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #46 - Field of Dreams

Good Morning Everyone!!! We are so excited to feature the 1989 Academy Award nominated movie: Field of Dreams for today's movie challenge! There are two taglines from this movie that are so inspiring! The first is: "All his life, Ray Kinsella was searching for his dreams. Then one day, his dreams came looking for him." and the second tagline that is inspiring is: "If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true. " Among other categories - this movie was nominated for Best Picture and is a movie that inspires the audience to reach for your dreams and enlivens the value of hope, faith and listening to the inner guiding voice. It is truly beyond a sports genre film - and rather, as one movie review wrote: ".... it is a testament to the timeless nature of its story and the universal reach of its theme of family, faith and redemption."

So this week - we hope that this movie inspires you!

And our challenge requirement for this card creation is to have some red stitching in your card/creation.

This can be faux stitching (like with a pen, gel pen, etc.)

or it could be with embroidery thread or with sewing - whatever you would like!)

Sankari's Card inspired by the movie: Field of Dreams:

I hadn't really wanted to see this movie because I thought it was kind of a baseball movie - but watching the movie as I made the card for today's challenge - totally moved me - its really so much beyond a story about baseball. I was inspired by the journey that Kevin Costner's character took in listening to "the voice" and the ending of the movie is just so touching. So I made my card as a tribute to enjoying the journey that we are all on and used the baseball as a motif from the movie - I wanted to make a rugged, manly boy card - and you have no idea how much pain it caused to sponge the baseball in way that wasn't pretty (lol :) I wanted it to look a little rugged - as life's journey sometimes is:

And after making such a card with "not pretty" sponging - I wanted to make a more "pretty" card so I made this one because I was totally inspired by the quote: This quote totally makes me think of the movie - because he listened to that "voice":

Hello everyone.. I have miss hanging out with you all over here at Cinema Saturday.. Thanks to Sankari for holding down the fort.. I was of attending the Stampin' Up Convention which was amazing!!! Can't wait for all the new and amazing things coming up! Then my poor computer had to go to Mac Doc's 2 times..... Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #45 - Sixteen Candles

Good Morning Everyone!!!! 

We are excited to feature the 80's classic movie: Sixteen Candles in honor of legendary director John Hughes who passed away at the age of only 59 last week. Joh  Hughes was also the director of 80's cult classics such as: The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science and Planes.Trains and Automobiles among others. This movie is a coming of age kind of story about the sixteenth birthday of the the character Molly Ringwald plays and also brings out highschool politics - highschool crushes - and all the highschool drama - along with a ton of hip 80's fashiion! Gotta love it!!!

So this week's challenge is a SUPER easy and fun one too! Ready?

The challenge requirement this week:

 is to make a birthday card!!!

and if you make it 80's colors - that's bonus points!!!

Sankari's Card Inspired by the movie: Sixteen Candles:

Okay - I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie - partly because I thought that the character of Jake Ryan was dreamy (did you know that the actor who played Jake Ryan, Michael Schoeffling now owns a woodmaking shop and creates handcrafted items!!!) and the other part because the very last scene still gives me tingles.... you know the scene where they lean into each other over a bday cake! 

Well - for this challenge requirement - I wanted to do something FUN and 80's retro ish - and create a bday card with those fun and bright colors in mind. I found this inspiration pic while blogging and then used that for my card:

This card is a little out of my box... but it was a blast to make!

I had so much fun making this card and the whole time I was watching the movie .... and still that last scene just gives me happy tingles :) LOVE it!!!

Friday Sneak Peek Time - You are going to LOVE this movie!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Its Sankari here - Brooke is back from Convention - woohoo!!! Her computer has been on the fritz - so I am going to have a go at the sneak peek again for this week!!

I am SOO psyched to sneak peek something for this week's movie!!! Seriously - its one of my ALL time fave movies :) And we hope you have fun with it!!!!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #44 - The Thief Lord

Good Morning Everyone,

Our dear Brooke is off enjoying the Stampin' Up Convention! We wish we were with you! Here is a fun little movie that we have for you today called the Thief Lord. I myself only watched it last night (I don't how it happens that my Cinema cards always get created at the last hour almost always!).  The Thief Lord  is a really sweet movie that was released in 2006 and is based on the German children's book released in 2000 by Corneila Funke. 

Here is the story line for those of you who haven't seen it yet from IMDb: "This tale follows six-year-old Bo and fifteen-year-old Prosper, two recently orphaned brothers who escape their impending separation by running off to Venice. There they have fantastical adventures with the mysterious masked figure known as the Thief Lord and his band of child followers, who show the boys all the magic the city has to offer." 

The challenge this week is really simple:

Make a friendship card or a card about sisters/brothers (for your sisters or for your brothers). Since this movie is all about Prop and Bo coming and staying together and bond of friendship that develops and is tested with the gang who takes them in and helps them in Venice - the challenge is to make a card either for your sibling or about siblings (your children and that they are each other's siblings, etc.) or it  could be for a friend.

Sankari's card based on the Thief Lord

Well, after I watched the movie - I decide that I would make a card for a friend. I really loved the relationship between the two brothers - so sweet how they took care of each other and wanted to be with each other. I also loved the friendship between all the members of Scipio's band - very sweet they way they stayed loyal to each other and maintained their friendship even when it was questioned. So here is my friendship card - I printed out the sentiment on my computer:

It is  very simple - I was almost ready to chuck it and start over - but that was a few hours ago - so I thought it was better to show you a card than nothing so here it is in all its simpleness.... you can check out my blog for more details about the card.

Good Morning Good Morning Everyone!!

Its time for another sneak peek for tomorrow's movie!!! We have been loving your pirate themed cards and as much as we are sad to see Johnny Depp go (specifically me :) its time for another friday sneak peek. This week our very dear Brooke is at the Stampin' Up Convention in Utah (lucky duck!!!) and so I am stepping in to attempt some sneak peeks....
